The Organization of Journalists against Drugs Abuse and Crime   in Tanzania (OJADACT) under the technical support of The Tanzania Nile Discourse Forum (TNDF) contributed to the public awareness against Lake Victoria Degradation.

The intervention of OJADACT which is member of Tanzania National Discourse Forum, was in line with project entitled “Lake Victoria Region Local Authority Cooperation (LVRLAC)” supported by UN-Habitat and Swedish International Development Agency.
During the public awareness, TNDF connected the ODAJACT to different Newspapers and radio stations and arranged the radio program sessions in the project implementation regions.

The project involved eight cities:  Kampala, Jinja and Entebbe (Uganda); Kisumu and Homa Bay (Kenya); and Musoma, Mwanza and Bukoba (Tanzania).
OJADACT, published  more  than 50  articles  in newspapers (local and national)  and   20  radio  programs (in local and national) between 2016  -  2017.
The post project evaluation of LVRLAC project shows that Lake Victoria degradation reduced to   20% of severity from 60% (2016) to 40% (2017).
