
Increasing the Adaptive Capacity of Khor El Teena Landscape to the Impacts of Climate Change, experience from SNDF

Horn of Africa Regional Environment Network (HoA-REN) launched a project on Adaptive Capacity of Khor El Teena Landscape to the Impacts of Climate Change during a workshop held on the 14th of November 2017 in El Obeid Town, North Kordofan state.
The HoA-REN Sudan Chapter to which the Sudan National Discourse Forum (SNDF) is a member, is now in the process of implementing a project entitled: “Increasing the Adaptive Capacity of Khor El Teena Landscape to the Impacts of Climate Change” to be implemented in Bara Locality, North Kordofan State.
The overall objective of the project is to improve the eco-system based adaptation of the landscape of Khor El Teena area. The project is expected to restore the Landscape; achieve food security and sustainable value chains; and to introduce alternative energy sources and eco buildings.

The HoA-REN was established in 2006 through support from the government of the Kingdom of the Royal Netherlands. It focuses on environmental concerns and sustainable development options within the Horn of Africa.
The HoA-REN facilitates, strengthens and advocates for initiatives related to environmental conservation and natural resource management. The Network promotes more than 40 higher learning institutions and research centres, endogenous civil society and community-based organizations in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan. Eritrea is expected to be part of the network in the future.
The HoA-REN links initiatives to enhance environmental governance and management, contribute to sustainable development, and improve livelihoods within the region. The Network is housed at the University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
