Dr. Sam Kanyamibwa, Executive Director, ARCOS called all stakeholders including Private Sector to address impacts of Climate Change
NBDF Rwanda at the representation of the National Coordinator participated in the Environment and Sustainable Business Development Dialogue. The Dialogue organized by ARCOS and GIZ in collaboration with the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and Rwanda Water and Forest Authority (RWFA) through its Water for Growth Rwanda (W4GR) Programme focused on “Leveraging adaptation opportunities, involving the private sector in implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in Rwanda”.
The dialog brought together all business oriented and pro-business institutions operating within Rwanda and the East African region, Civil society organizations, Financing institutions, Inter-governmental Institutions, Development Partners, and Public institutions.
The dialog was a unique opportunity to explore their common interests, understand and discuss different opportunities and risks in incorporating climate change adaptation in their daily business operations.
Participants were also advised on how the “Climate Expert Tool” and other instruments can be used by companies, to prepare for the impacts of climate change, analyze and integrate climate change adaptation in their plan of operations.
The dialogue came up with a platform that will facilitate companies across the region to share information and experiences on issues related to climate change adaptation, and corporate social and environment responsibility.
The dialogue also set-up follow-up mechanisms on agreed strategies and actions, and a policy brief on how to integrate private efforts into National Action Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) implementation.
