Nile Basin Discourse Forum Rwanda in the Second Stakeholder Advisory Network (SAN) Committee Meeting

Nile Basin Discourse Forum Rwanda (NBDF) attended the Second Stakeholder Advisory Network (SAN) Committee Meeting held in Washington, DC April 18-19, 2018.
The Stakeholders Advisory Network on Climate Finance (SAN) was launched in November 2016 to “advance the engagement of broader non-state stakeholders in the Climate Investment Funds and other climate finance institutes at the country, regional and global levels.”
It was initially overseen by a steering committee of five members from civil society, the private sector and indigenous peoples’ representatives to roll-out the operationalization of the Network.
The SAN meeting in Washington resulted in the finalization of the Strategy that will lead its implementation. The finalization was based on the outcomes of the Bonn meeting and provides the basis for the formal creation of the Stakeholder Advisory Network (SAN).
It is expected that SAN will build bridges between Members - civil society, indigenous peoples, and private sector - and climate finance actors - donor and recipient governments, implementing agencies, national agencies, and Global Fund secretariats.
It will strive to be seen as an objective, reliable and expert interlocutor on issues that may arise between parties related to appropriate stakeholder engagement. It will promote strong direct partnerships with governments at the country level.
